I begin this section by crediting the man who started all of this: Super Eyepatch Wolf. If I hadn't been watching his video on the Fall of The Simpsons, I would've never come across his video on Chi no Wadachi, entitled: The Manga That Breaks People. No one has sold this story in 1:50 minutes better than he did. He made that video for people like me and, if it hadn't been for him, I would never know this manga existed. 

I'd like to express my deep appreciation to нαуαтσ мιѕαкι for all the valuable assistance, constant feedback, and overwhelming encouragement to start writing this essay. I've been ruminating the idea for a while but, if not for нαуαтσ мιѕαкι's vote of confidence, it probably wouldn't exist. 

I'm incredibly thankful to Canal MadaMada and their series of podcasts (for their valuable use as research tools, and the hours of lighthearted fun), but mostly, for enduring my endless questions on Twitter about the author, the paneling, and the techniques and meanings of the manga.

Similarly, I am very thankful to Gocchi and her comprehensible article written about Shūzō Oshimi (great research material on the mangaka's life and work). She also encouraged me a great deal and, alongside MadaMada, endured many of my endless questions about the author in his work.

I would like to thank ComiQQs for her series of videos on Chi no Wadachi (very insightful analysis of the mangaka's artwork and the meanings of the manga). Her in-depth analysis, as well as our dialogue on the comment section, provided me with various points of view that I wouldn't have considered otherwise, and helped me immensely in writing this essay. 

I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Erick, author of this review on Chi no Wadachi. Our exchanges on Twitter about this manga and the author gave me a lot of impetus to deepen my research for this post, and kindly opened my eyes to many aspects of the Japanese culture that I had never considered.
